Oluwadara’s Kitchen Initiative
Enduring Love Christian Assembly (ELCA), Offin Branch, Ikorodu, Lagos State
Overview
Oluwadara’s Kitchen is a community health and nutrition initiative introduced at the ELCA Offin Branch, Ikorodu, Lagos State. The program was conceived following a health talk emphasizing child health, nutrition, and the prevention of malnutrition.
It aims to provide direct nutritional support to children diagnosed with visible or physician-confirmed malnutrition while educating parents on sustainable child care practices.
Implementation Plan
The initiative will operate at the family level with tangible interventions rather than monetary donations. Beneficiaries will receive weekly supplies of eggs, milk, vegetables, and multivitamins to support balanced child nutrition. Participation requires active parental involvement, including meal documentation through photo submissions. The welfare committee will monitor and review progress monthly, submitting reports for accountability.
Key Focus Area
- Promote early detection and intervention for childhood malnutrition.
- Encourage parents to monitor children’s growth and ensure adequate protein and nutrient intake.
- Strengthen parental education on sustainable home nutrition and meal planning.
- Foster collaboration with Calvary Women and church welfare committees for ongoing support and evaluation.
Conclusion
Oluwadara’s Kitchen is designed as a sustainable and practical response to malnutrition within the ELCA community. By combining nutritional aid, education, and community monitoring, the program seeks to foster long-term improvements in child health and strengthen the role of families and faith-based groups in community well-being.
