Overview
A community medical outreach was conducted at Irefi, Oraifite, Anambra State, by representatives of the PELA African Missionary Authority (PAMA) and Pilgrims Helping-Hands Ministry (PHM).
The outreach aimed to assess the medical needs of residents,
provide health education, and direct patients to local centers for ongoing care and follow-up.
Outreach Summary
A total of fifteen (15) patients were evaluated during the outreach. Consultations focused on chronic disease management, nutrition, physical activity, and lifestyle modification.
Each patient received personalized guidance and follow-up recommendations.
Interactive Session
- Uncontrolled hypertension and poor medication compliance were the most common findings.
- A clinically suspicious case of breast mass was identified and referred for further investigation.
- Poor dietary habits and lack of exercise were prevalent among participants.
- Extensive health education sessions were held to address preventive care and healthy living practices.
Recommendations
- Biennial Medical Missions: Sustain periodic free consultations and community health education to promote wellness.
- Health & Education Support Fund: Establish a donation-based fund to support treatment, medication, and health awareness programs.
- Local Partnerships: Strengthen collaboration with nearby clinics, NGOs, and healthcare workers to ensure regular follow-up and early diagnosis.
Conclusion
The Oraifite outreach highlighted both the medical challenges and opportunities for improving community health. Through continued partnerships and consistent engagement, the program aims to enhance preventive care, promote awareness, and foster sustainable health development across local communities.
